Refreshing my mind with conventions

Conventions from earlier on in the year:
  • The 'best bits'
  • Not necessarily in narrative order,
  • Title does not appear until the end,
  • Showcase the stars,
  • Voice-over- to tell a story and give credit information,
  • Visual images on screen, just to realise what we're seeing,
  • Synchronized sound and images,
  • Conversations between characters usually consist of one line each,
  • Music creates atmosphere,
  • Unusual angles use to show events or characters,
  • Action is dispersed with credits,
  • Ending reaches to a climax.
What conventions or subversions does our trailer have?

Conventions
  • Final Girl,
  • Haunted House,
  • The pacing of the trailer is similar to women in black,
  • Ghosts (the unknown),
  • Darkness,
  • Music, Fast paced(fast editing),
  • Enigma (Roland Barthes’ Hermeneutic code),
  • Using titles,
  • Iconography/ mise en scene (candles),
  • Good Vs Evil,
  • Villain.

Subversion's
  • 3 girls; Cabin in the woods has 5,
  • 5 Character Archetypes (Propps's Character Theory).

Our final film package against what we were aiming for!

Copy of Final Poster and Magazine

You can see the resemblance between the Followings Poster and our Final. We decided to keep to our flat plan of our poster as it best suited our narrative, or something happening to multiple people; in this case a chain or cycle of events.
